Quelle faranbole !, tissu, tube en métal, fils, 140 x 200 cm, 2020
« Quelle faranbole ! » is an installation that is composed by three fabric pieces on which some words are hand embroidered. My family origins are from the region of Auvergne and I used to hear my grandmother since I was a child, speaking with some words issued from the local slang, nowadays unknown by the new generation. I am still attached by this slang that usually sounds funny or has a theatrical sound, this is the reason why I like to pronounce these words and play with it ! Some of these slang words were changed through the years. On the first fabric, the artwork title is written : « Quelle faranbole ! », an expression that was totally created that mixing up the slang words « farandole » and « faribole » to announce in a funny way the slang words list embroidered on the second fabric. Then, on the third fabric, short definitions are written for the spectator. Embroidered on a clear muslin fabric, the fluid and light material looks like the writing is escaping and sometimes disappear.
